#1 Think about the presentations and reflect on the projects your classmates presented and the information you listened to. Explain with details and specific information what you learned, what you found interesting, surprising, or shocking about the presentations you heard in class.
In class, I learned many things from my classmates, about disarmament, child soldiers, climate change, HIV/Aids, globalization, and refugees. I learned that the world needs our help, from global warming, to guns. Children in Africa, and some parts of Asia are carrying small arms and killing people. People are breaking the O-zone layer and making global warming. People all over the world are getting HIV/Aids, and there is still no cure for it. And children from countries are getting kicked out, forcing them to be refugees in another country. There are lots of NGOs trying to help, and the UN isn’t doing that much about these things.
Go to our wikispace to see all our presentations, and one wikispace: http://unworldissues.wikispaces.com/Block+E+Projects
#2 What would you change to improve your project/presentation if you were to do the assignment again?
If I were to change to improve my project/presentation if I could do the assignment again, I would go over my notes and try to memorise more things with my family. Be more prepared. Maybe I could have found a bit more information if necessary.

1. What new information has emerged?
The new information that has emerged is that there was a landslide which caused houses toppling into the ocean. There are still four houses at the clifftop, and they might still be in trouble if the clip is still unstable. Then the people decided to move out.
2. What did you find interesting about this topic?
I found interesting that one cliff can be a lot of danger to anyone around it, espicially if people are living on a cliff, because it might break off. Now I know that landslides can be so dangerous to a lot of people.
3. What did you like about the initial blog posting?
I liked just about everything, he he added the pictures, and the information was good and I felt that he could really understand the article. It was very clear written out and I also could understand it very esily.

Ghost Yacht
(not given). “Myestry of ‘ghost’ yacht,” CBBC. Friday, April 20th. <http://news.bbc.co.uk/cbbcnews/hi/newsid_6570000/newsid_6574800/6574871.stmhttp://news.bbc.co.uk/cbbcnews/hi/newsid_6570000/newsid_6574800/6574871.stm> (Friday, April 20th).
What is the issue?
The issue is that a yacht was found drifting in the sea at Australian waters with the crew of the boat missing. The engines were running, a computer running, a laptop set up on the table, the radio was working, and a table with dinner on it, but no one was there. There was an air and sea rescue mission, but they were puzzled when they saw no one there.
The boat’s sails were up, however, one sail was badly shredded.
Who is involved?
- The 3 people were are missing
- The rescuers
Who is affected and how?
The people who are missing are affected because they are missing and they might have been killed. The crew’s families are affected because they are probably worried and they don’t know what happened to their family. The police are also affected because they are trying to figure out this mystery and no one knows how they mysteriously disappeared.
What would you do if you were directly involved?
If I was involved, I would try to get more security in the sea. I would get more marine officers so they could keep an eye on the boats incase anything else happens.

Famous Egyptains Reflection
Today in class, I learnt a lot about many famous gods, goddesses, and rulers of Egypt. I learnt that Set, the god of evil and many other things, was the brother of Osiris, and Set killed Osiris. I also learned many more other facts, like Osiris’s son was Horus, Sekhme was one of Ra’s eyes. Who looked like a lion and she wanted to kill all of mankind. I thought that the fact about Set fighting Osiris in a 48 year battle was very interesting. It was fun to see everyone dress up like their person, because some people had great costumes, and some had funny costumes.
What would you change to improve your speech/presentation if you were to do the assignment again?
If I were to do it again, I would make my speech a little longer for more information, because i felt it wasn’t enough compared to the other people. I was also not that confident, so I should have said my speech to my family before. I was also just making myself more nervous by not going, so I should have done my speech near the beginning of the lesson.
Famous Egyptains Speech
My Egyptian Speech
Who am I you ask? I am Khufu! I was the 2nd pharaoh of the 4th Dynasty in Egypt. The Greeks also know me as Cheops. Now you will find out a bit about me
I have been alive for many years since 2589 BC to 2566 BC. I have ruled of Egypt for 23 years, from 2551 BC – 2528 BC. As you know, I was the 2nd pharaoh of the 4th Dynasty in Egypt. I have the power to kill you, so you better watch out.
I am more important than any of you because I was the pharaoh of Egypt. I built the great pyramid of Giza. As you heard, I am of great significance in Egypt, and you aren’t.
I changed the way Egyptians live by building the world’s largest pyramid, which is still standing. I also made a huge impact on people by being mean and ruthless. I have many lives in Egypt, as you heard before.
Well, now you know why I was so important in Egypt. Even though I became a pharaoh in my twenties, I was brave and confident and did things a 35 year-old man could do. To sum up, I was a mean ruler, but I built the world’s largest pyramid, the Great Pyramid of Giza.

Suicide Blast in Iraq
SalaHeddin, Sinan, Associated Press Writer. ”Suicide blast kills 11 in Irag.” Yahoo News. Wednesday, 21st February 2007. <http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070221/ap_on_re_mi_ea/iraq> (Wednesday, 21st February 2007).
What is the issue?
The issue is that a suicide car bomber in Baghdad, Iraq killed 11 people. At least two of the vitims were police, and the rest were civilians. The bomb was bombed at a spritual heartland of the militia factions led by Muqtada al-Sadr, a cleric.
Who is involved?
- The people who were killed
- The suicide bomber
- Muqtada al-Sadr, and his militia
Who is affected and how?
- The government is affected because people will probably start complaining about the safety there and will complain. They are supposed to be incharge of the security, and it’s very bad there.
- Muqtada al-Sadr’s militia is affected because they are an illegall army and people might be afraid of them. This might have caused the suicide bomber to bomb there, to get rid of the militia.
- The familyof the 11 victims that died are affected because they would be very sad for losing a person in their family.
What would you do if you were directly involved?
If I was directly involved I would complain to the government and ask them to have better security, so that people will be checked if they have any weapons, and have more policemen guarding the place. I would also try to get donations from others to pay the families that lost their loved one(s), and get medical supplies another person gets injured.

Reflection on Ancient African space
Link to homework assignment: Reflection questions
1. What did you learn from this task?
From this task, I learned all about Ghana, their history place, etc. There were many interesting facts, including that the Ghana kingdoms was one of the wealthiest kingdoms in Africa, but they never had any goldfields, and they had to trade their salt for the gold. I also learned that Ghana was one of the most main trading points in West Africa. Not only did I learn so many facts about Ghana, I found quite a few things about the other kingdoms, such as the Mali kingdoms, Zimbabwe kingdom, Swahili trading states, etc. I also learned how to make my writing more clearer which allows me to make wikispaces and blogs better. I also got the experience to make a Imovie, which i have not done before , and help on quite a few things.
2. Did you find this difficult or easy? Why?
This task wasn’t that easy or difficult. It was quite challenging to find all the information i needed about Ghana’s Place, however, putting everything together and making the wikispace, i thought was fairly easy. I thought finding the information was quite hard because none of the sources never really gave much information about the climate, attitude, natural disasters, etc. I only could do some of them such as architecture and government. I thought putting the information together was easy because I have been doing this a lot lately for many posters and presentations in my old school so i’m used to it and i usually know the main things what to do.
3. What would you change about the process you went through to complete the wiki if you were to do the assignment again?
If I was to do the assignment again, I wouldn’t really change anything because i thought everything was fine. However, I would actually find more pictures before I made my page. Besides that, i thought i did fairly fine.
Link to my group wiki: http://ancientafricae.wikispaces.com/Ghana+Empire
What would you change about the final product (the wiki you created) if you were to do the assignment again?
If I were to change my final product about the wiki I created, if I got to do the assignment again, I would add more pictures to my pages, and make the writing look more better, so it will catch the viewer’s eye.
Look at some of the other wikis from any class and find a few that you think are done exceptionally well. Tell me the name of the empire and the block, and then explain what you like about their wiki.
Kongo Kingdom - Block H
This group did an excellent job because in their pages, their included a good amount of information, added pictures, spaced their writing, and it caught my eye. I liked how they added pictures In their home page of their kingdom, and also they explained some what was going to be in the links, and they also added information. They had a bibliography page, and had external links. I thought everything was great, they had lots of information, cited their work in another page, had pictures, and linked words to other web pages to show what they mean or if you wanted to know more information about something.

1. What new information has emerged?
The new information that has emerged is that Poland keeps expensive equipment in mines. 23 people got killed in a mind because the company kept expensive equipment in there even though it was unstable and old.
2. What did you find interesting about this topic?
I found interesting that a company in Poland kept some of their expensive equipment inside an unstable mine. I tought that companies kept their expensive equipment in a safety vault where it is secure, not in a mine.
3.What did you like about the initial blog posting?
What I liked about Daryl’s initial blog posting is that he did his presentation loudy, clearly, and easy to understand. He included all the requirments, including links and pictures.
